Natty News: Fashion's Night Out
Well kids - Fashion's Night Out is back, and word on the street is that it's going to be bigger than ever. With, what seams like, every retailer in town throwing some kind of shindig in an effort to get shoppers in the door - I am inclined to believe the hype. SO, to help you navigate the maddening amount of options on the roster, here's a short list of highlights that should be worth prancing around town in platforms for.

NATTY NEWS: Fashion Goes Public
Last night, fashion history was made as Fashion's Night Out launched the first ever public (meaning you could buy tickets) fashion show. This was also the beginning of the first season that New York Fashion Week will be held in Manhattan's iconic Lincoln center, as opposed to Bryant Park. A truly "New York moment" - the show featured city centric songs like Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind".
1500 guests attended the spectacle which featured dozens of the world's most recognized supermodels - from Gisele to Alek Wek, Karolina Kurkova, Hilary Rhoda and Coco Rocha among others. Guests received a preview of the FW2010 season's top trends, including 50's silhouettes, jazz age styles, rock chic and "Go Global" inspirations. Those in attendance ranged from students and everyday folk, to celebs and the fashion elite like Julianne Moore, Blake Lively, DVF and Michael Kors.
Unlike shows held by designers themselves, just about every look was a combination of items from brands and designers all over the market. Payless could be paired with Gucci, Ann Taylor with Yves Saint Laurent. With such mixing and matching, the styling felt much like an editorial feature - which makes sense considering the show and Fashion's Night Out are of course hosted by Vogue and Anna Wintour herself.
In case you missed it, CBS will air the full show on September 14th.

STYLE FILE: Bright White
For an Upper East Side birthday party on one of the hottest nights of the year - I felt fresh in a bright white embellished dress by DVF. The pop of color on the shoes and handbag gave some flair to the otherwise simple palette. That, and I realized that I don't own a truly neutral colored clutch...hmmm
